What is 4G?

4G is the abbreviation of the fourth-generation wireless. It is a stage of mobile broadband communications that comes before 5G (fifth-generation wireless) and succeeds 3G (third-generation wireless).

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) defines the 4G wireless cellular standard. And also, specifies key characteristics of the standard such as transmission technology and data speeds.

The bandwidth speeds and network capacity have increased with each generation of wireless cellular technology. Therefore, 4G users can expect speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Whereas 3G users can only expect a maximum speed of 14 Mbps.

With the download speed of the 4G network, wireless users can easily download and stream high-quality video and audio. Additionally, the 4G network enables wireless broadband. Also, it allows users to connect to the internet without requiring a fixed, wired connection from an internet provider.

How Does 4G Work?

At the most basic level, a 4G network work via an antenna. Additionally, it transmits radio frequencies and also allows mobile devices to connect to mobile networks.

4G transmission and receiving are enabled by MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technologies. Both MIMO and OFDM have higher capacity and bandwidth than 3G.

OFDM technology outperforms the primary 3G technologies, such as TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access). In comparison to 3G, 4G reduces network congestion by supporting more users via MIMO.

In contrast to 3G, which uses only internet protocol (IP) for data while enabling voice over a circuit-switched network, 4G is an all-IP (internet protocol)-based standard for both voice and data. For mobile network providers, operating and optimizing 4G as an all-IP network is more efficient than managing multiple network technologies for voice and data.

What are the Key gains of 4G in the Organizations?

Well, 4G offers various key gains to the organizations. Some of them are the following. So, let’s have a look at them!

  1. Several businesses are located in rural areas and often they faced a low broadband problem. And this low broadband directly affects their productivity and delivery services. Hence, the 4G network will be a better solution for those businesses who are still waiting for a high-speed broadband network.

  1. The speed and dependability of 4G are two of its most significant advantages. Besides, it allows for more traffic to flow through the network (avoiding congestion caused by a large number of users) and is far more reliable than 3G. By using 4G networks, businesses can benefit from a dependable and predictable mode of communication.

  1. The cost of 4G is significantly less. Furthermore, the ability to work from anywhere with 4G has the potential to reduce operational costs. Moreover, 4G makes it easier to have a mobile workforce, send digital documents, and transfer data to employees in any location, all of which can help your business save money.

  1. 4G technology can help you work more efficiently. If you need to send a document, schedule a conference call, or send instructions to field employees, 4G is a great way to do so quickly. Additionally, a 4G network avoids downtime and keeps your company productive throughout the day.
