What was purely a hierarchy-based business structure a couple of decades back is entirely shifted into hybrid arrangements involving significant vendor participation after the emergence of business process outsourcing industry. This industry eliminates the hassles of business diversification and addresses the issues with respect to monitoring and managing manifold business horizons. Several industry research studies reveal that BPO services as the processes are often linked to the outsourcer’s core business. This clearly reflects the correlation between BPO companies and outsourcers as the former is considered as a reliable platform for a business to reengineer its business process.

Business process outsourcing is usually followed dual concepts: back office outsourcing and front office outsourcing. The BPO service specializes in internal business functions such as billing or purchasing can directly fall under the back office outsourcing; while the service dealing with marketing or technology support is the underlying function of the front office outsourcing. However, business process outsourcing operating in a location other than the company’s own geographical location is often termed as offshore outsourcing. In addition, the BPO services that cover nearby countries apart from companies’ own countries are literally called as nearshore outsourcing and the outsourcing business operating within the company’s own country is usually referred to as onshore outsourcing process.
